I am so excited to be your child's 1st grade teacher. This is my 22nd year of teaching.  I have taught in both general and special education settings.   I am a Level III  teacher with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education from New Mexico State University.  I also received a Masters of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from the University of New Mexico.  When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my three children.  They are all very active in both school and athletics, so there is not much down time in our day...but I wouldn't have it any other way! I am looking forward to sharing in  your child's educational journey!

Learning Targets

Reading: We will be able to describe characters, settings, and major events using key details from the story.

Writing: We will work on writing a narrative in which they recount two or more appropriately sequenced events, include details about what happened, using temporal words to signal even order, and provide a sense of closure.

Fundations: We are working on CVC words, digraphs and when to use bonus letters f, l, and s.

Math: We will be learning that teen numbers are made up of a group of ten and some ones. We are also working on reading and writing number words.

Science: We will be learning all about Apples & Fall.

Social Studies: We have been learning about school rules and how to S.O.A.R.! We have been talking about what makes us each special and what we each bring into our classroom community.

Week 1 Remote Learning
School Closure Updates

Parents,

Over the next several weeks I will be assigning challenges and activities for your students on a weekly, sometimes daily basis. Please look here for links to online platforms for your at-home access. To keep things as normal as possible for your child, I have set up a simple schedule, should you choose to follow it. This is to help provide structure and routine to their day. Most of those items will go out via BLOOMZ class app.

But please remember, if anything, PLEASE make sure your child is reading and writing everyday! Writing does not have to be associated with a book, it could be a letter to a relative to check in on them, a letter to a classmate that they miss, a grocery list, an adventure, a favorite memory, a summer bucket list...the list is endless, the skill are invaluable!

Please connect and reach out to me, via BLOOMZ for more up-to-date and timely information about our class!
